Chris Frye is the soulful lead voice and wordsmith of the band. He is also a master of the rhythm guitar, using his creativity and familiarity with diverse global traditions to help generate the foundation of The Bills’ exciting sound. His early years were spent steeped in North American traditional music, accompanying his fiddle-playing father from the age of five. He was later turned on to the pioneers of soul and rock music, fronting electrified groove-rock projects in his hometown of Vancouver, BC.

His pursuit of international musical styles and languages, and his own gift for songwriting and performing have become pillars of The Bills’ unique approach to making music. His unabashed affection for subtitled films is a reliable source of jokes in the band.
