THE BILLS: BUSY TIMES, INDIVIDUALLY AND TOGETHER

THE BILLS IN 2009

The Bills have been busy in the past 12 months, writing, recording and touring - but not always in Bills form. The Marc Atkinson Trio released its critically acclaimed fourth album and has been touring steadily in support of it (www.marcatkinson.com), Adrian has been playing with all kinds of folks (Ridley Bent, The Arrogant Worms) and producing recordings (Cori Brewster, Shearwater) visit www.adriandolan.com. Chris has continued to perform in support of his solo album (www.chrisfrye.com), and Scott has been busy with shows and album releases in Europe (www.scottwhite.net).

However, the boys have been getting together, often with either Jeremy Penner or Richard Moody as the fifth Bill on fiddle, and performing to the rafter-raising standard that audiences in North America and Europe have come to expect. From Celtic Connections in Glasgow to the National Arts Centre in Ottawa, The Bills remain a fresh and exciting force to be reckoned with on the roots music scene.

NEW BILLS MUSIC

The core members of the band, Marc, Adrian, Chris and Scott, have been writing and sharing their new ideas with each other over the past six months in anticipation of a new recording. A combination of 21st century technology (emailing song demos to each other) and old-fashioned jamming will hopefully culminate in some tunes on wax (figure of speech) by the end of 2009, with a release in 2010. Lucky audience members at Bills shows will get to hear various new tunes, and lovely Hornby Island may very well turn out to be the scene where the reels roll and the new release gets laid down. More to come as the year progresses...
